Submit a Feature Request
We value your input! If you have an idea for a new feature or enhancement for our software, we encourage you to submit a feature request.
Table of Contents
Our features are always driven by user feedback. Let us know what we should add or improve next!
Step 1
Feature requests can be submitted by logging into your Biller Genie account at merchant.billergenie.com
Step 2
Click the BG logo in the bottom left corner to open a small menu. Click ‘Product Roadmap.’
Step 3
A form will appear prompting you to answer three questions about your feature request, and you're done! The system will automatically update you from here as your feature request goes through our assessment cycle.
Question #1 (What is your feature request?): We are looking for a clear, concise statement of what feature you’d like us to add. For example, “Add support for Authorize.net for payments” clearly indicates what is needed and for what purpose. This will be the title that other subscribers see when looking to vote for various features to help them climb the priority list. So the clearer the statement is, the better!
Question #2 (What are you trying to achieve?): We want you to expand on your request a bit more. Help us understand more about the reasons behind your need for this feature request. What is the impact on your business and your customers if we build this feature? How has the absence of this feature affected your business?
Question #3 (What is your current workaround?): We are curious if you have found a way to perform this functionality in another way. Whether that’s in Biller Genie or by using another application; the more detail the better!
Next Steps
The Biller Genie team will be notified of your new request and will usually review it within 1-2 business days. During our review, we will evaluate it for clarity and reach out to you if we need more information to help us make a decision. Feature requests have 5 statuses and within each stage there will be automated communication with updates on progress:
• Awaiting Feedback – At this stage, everyone in the Biller Genie community can see your request and vote on it! Each quarter we will review all the features and evaluate the highest voted for potential development in a future release. NOTE: We cannot guarantee that even the highest-voted feature will be built. There are many factors to consider with any feature and popularity is just one dimension.
• Planned – This is an exciting stage because this means we’ve decided to build your feature! While in this stage we are evaluating when is best to build the feature. It could be our next release or one of several future releases depending on the complexity of the feature.
• Building – At this point our development team is hard at work, building out your magnificent feature! You can safely assume our next major release will contain your feature and you’re one step closer to using it to help your business.
• Released – Pop the champagne! Your feature is live! The entire Biller Genie community will now reap the rewards of your amazing idea – be proud!
• Declined – Unfortunately we cannot build every feature requested. Numerous factors contribute to a decline decision, such as cost, time, effort, feasibility, and lack of votes from the community, amongst other reasons. To that end, we will have to decline many feature requests. You will be notified when this status is selected, but don’t let that stop you from submitting other ideas!
Prioritizing Your Requests
Once you have submitted your second feature request, our platform will automatically begin asking you to prioritize your requests; everything can’t be the highest priority, right? To do this, you need to open our feature request board in full-screen mode by clicking the BG help button in the lower left and then clicking on the ‘Open in Portal’ link. From here click on ‘Dashboard’ in the left navigation menu to show a listing of all the current features you have submitted under ‘My Priorities’. You will now see sliders for priority across your features. Sliding to the right raises the priority for the given feature but also lowers the priority for your remaining features. This helps to balance out the priorities so not everything is the highest priority.
Voting on Other Subscribers’ Requests
On this same screen, you will also notice a list of other features that other subscribers have submitted that you can review and vote for to help raise the priority of the feature. By clicking the “thumbs up” button, you’re casting a vote to increase the priority of the given feature. By clicking the “Zzz” button you’re casting a vote to decrease the priority of this feature.
If you’d like to read more details about the feature before you vote, you can click on the hyperlinked title. You can still vote for this feature from this detail screen under the “Request actions” section on the right. You can also add comments on the request under the 'Discussion' box on the lower left. You can share your thoughts on the feature and support it! Understand that this area is for positive and constructive conversation about the feature. Biller Genie reserves the right to delete any comments that are not in line with our general rules of conduct.
You’ll notice, that any features from other subscribers that you upvote will now move up under the 'My Priorities' section with priority sliders that you can manipulate as you see fit. Again, increasing the priority on one feature will reduce the priorities of the other feature requests in your list.
You can return to your dashboard at any time to see the statuses of any of your feature requests, see anything new submitted by other users, and submit new feedback requests.
We truly hope this feedback platform provides you with a voice to help Biller Genie constantly improve our services.
